The solution

Why disinfect on site?

  • Waste is disinfected where it is generated.
  • No risk is passed on to the public sector.
  • Waste is disinfected together with its collection containers – no chemical disinfectants are needed for the containers.

MR1 compared with incineration and autoclaving

  • No external steam supply
  • No chemical agents
  • No transport of hazardous waste outside the hospital
  • No harmful vapours or smoke
  • The residue is as safe as municipal waste
Advantages

Safe, effective and economical

Effectiveness

High disinfection efficacy even for closed and hollow forms, achieved by even heating of the surface and the interior.

Safety

Minimal risk of infection for staff. The same container is used for collection, transport and treatment, which removes the risks of manual handling.

Low costs

Low cost of consumables, no external steam supply, a reusable container, no transport costs and no additional chemical agents.

Environmental protection

Hazardous waste is not transported out of the hospital or laboratory. Residual products are as safe as municipal waste. No harmful vapours or smoke are released.

Principle of operation

How the MR1 works

  1. 1. Collection

Waste is collected directly in the MR1 container, at the place where it is produced.

  2. 2. Loading

The container is placed in the chamber with no transfer or sorting.

  3. 3. Disinfection

Once water is added, microwave energy heats the waste evenly from the inside out. One cycle takes about 35 minutes.

  4. 4. Disposal

The residue has the characteristics of safe municipal waste, and the container is reused.
